Rose Gold and White with a touch of Greenery: Ope & Ato’s Wedding at Stockport Town Hall
Ope sent us a direct message on Instagram back in 2018 saying ‘God willing we actually do get to work together’. This was prior to Ato proposing - talk about speaking it into existence! Fast forward to April 2020, a global pandemic, who would’ve have thought?! During a national lockdown, Ato & Ope decided to book our services and signed the contract for their August 2021 wedding. When couples were cancelling their wedding plans or putting them on hold Ato and Ope booked us. Such a heart-warming feeling to be thought of in the midst of so much uncertainty.
We started working virtually with the couple to plan their big day and didn’t meet them physically until May 2021 when we attended a consultation with the cake baker and food tasting with the caterers in Manchester. Ope & Ato’s wedding took us out of town for a couple of days to up North which was a lovely experience for us. The ceremony at the Manchester Cathedral was beautiful, with ceremony music provided by a string quartet and the church organist.
The choice of venue was highly influenced by the guest count of 330, this had to be reduced to 260 due to COVID-19 restrictions post lockdown. The magnificent double Italian marble staircase at the venue provided a stunning backdrop for the couple’s portrait photos and shots with their bridal party. The ballroom with its beautiful ceiling and stained-glass window was perfect for this romantic wedding. The groom Ato is into music and plays the piano. It was important to the couple to incorporate this to the day, so their first dance song was an original instrumental created by the groom and one of their friends who was a guest also played the piano for the couple’s first dance.
The wedding colours - rose gold and white - were incorporated to the wedding design, from the stationery to flowers to the décor. Some of the beautiful details seen at the wedding reception include blossom trees, blossom white floral centrepieces which complemented the couple’s sweetheart area, rose gold beaded charger plates and the 5-tier marble effect cake with rose gold line.
The touch of greenery was incorporated into the bridal party flowers. The bride’s bouquet was perfect for her simple but elegant dress - it was hand tied with ivory ribbon and loose in style. It included white garden roses, white phlox, white alstroemeria, a touch of mixed foliage, populous eucalyptus and of ruby cordyline leaves. The bridesmaid’s bouquet complemented their brown silk dresses and were hand tied with ivory ribbon, loose and natural in style and included white alstroemeria, white lisianthus and white phlox with a touch of mixed foliage including populous and cinerea. The groom’s boutonniere was white garden rose and a touch of ruby cordyline and populous which complemented the bride’s bouquet. The groomsmen’s buttonhole was cluster of white lisianthus and populous & cinerea foliage.
Ope & Ato’s guests were treated to tasty canapés and cocktails upon arrival at the reception and the food service we opted for was family style service which meant the guests had options but did not have to queue for a buffet. The day was beautiful despite the rain and Ope & Ato’s family and friends made us feel welcome. They had the best time ever! Feedback to the couple from one of their guests reads ‘I just wanted to say, your wedding was the most well sequenced wedding I’ve attended. Everyone did their job well and it was a great experience’. That sounds like a job well done to us. Wishing Ope and Ato a lifetime of happiness, we’re so glad they chose us in unprecedented times.
